Benji Brand

Benji Brand is the kind of surfer who, despite his quiet nature, gets all of the attention because of the way he surfs. Chasing swells around the world, Benji has gained massive renown and respect for the waves he rides.

Benji, a surfer raised between the iconic shores of both Oahu and South Africa has a yin and yang energy that is simultaneously powerful, fierce, and gentle. His style and impeccable read of legendary waves on the North Shore of Hawaii and around the word speak louder than words and make a statement about his surf prowess that is undeniable. Benji has surf accolades to back up the hype as well, like 2015 GoPro of the World, 2017 WSL Hawai‘i Regional Champion, 2018 Surfline Wave of the Winter Outstanding Performance, and the 2019 Rip Curl Padang Padang Cup Champion. Benji, a man of few words, finished 10th in the Stab Surfer of the Year Poll in 2021 (tied with Craig Ando) courtesy of his incredible opening part in Snapt 4. Brand got the most memorable wave of the Shootout, a massive double-section Pipe pit that he exited via layback.

Jan 2023, Brand won the Backdoor Shootout at Bonzai Pipeline on the North Shore, then earned Wave of the Winter 2024-25.

The newest member of the Salty Crew, Brand joins CJ Hobgood, the “wild air guy” Matt Meola, the “comp machine” Levi Slawson, and Lucas Dirske the dude who rides everything. With Benji, Salty Crew secured this humble charger, a staple in any respectable surf brand’s roster.

And it’s just the beginning for Benji. Be it a last minute strike Mission to Tahiti, Fiji, Northern Ireland, Bali, Mexico or Kadui in the Mentawai Islands, Brand has fans anxiously awaiting peaks into his next adventure and the drop of Snapt 5 this winter.
